Option Matrix for Photo Enlargement Control
Multiple Enlargement Engines Combined with Full Function Sharpening Give Imagener Dozens of Options
Photo enlargement should be approached as a process using various techniques and functions to get best results. Imagener provides dozens of ways to do that. Imagener has many combinations to enlarge and sharpen images in three categories of functions:
1. Up to Seven Enlargement Engines
Imagener Unlimited has seven enlargement engines, and all are useful depending on the operation you are trying to perform and the specifications of the image you are working with. All enlargement engines are listed in the "Resample Method" drop down box. These methods and best use are:
- Nearest neighbor: Image reduction option.
- Bilinear: Better for image reduction and possible enlargement of very small images.
- Bicubic: simple enlargement of small images
- Kneson: original algorithm
- Kneson Progressive: new algorithm written in the C programming language
- Kneson Progressive++: reversioned algorithm written using object orientation
- Kneson Unlimited: Tri-linear vectorization - 3 stage process wraps images before enlargement
Don't think of these engines in terms of one being more powerful than the other. They all enlarge images with unique algorithms giving each specific usefulness. You can read more about each engine at www.photoenlargement.org.
2. The Only Large Window Real Time Sharpening Functionality
If you've tried to sharpen digital photos in Photoshop® or any of the other commercial imaging programs, you'll notice some require specific numeric values and the program normally shows the image you're working with in a tiny window. Imagener provides slider functionality with automatic previewing in a full pane window so you can see and test different effects visually.
Imagener can make all images look better whether you enlarge them or not. Raw images can be sharpened to look crisper by using the "Resharp" function. This always improves the look of digital images, even those from the highest quality camera or scanner. Just load an image into Imagener and adjust the Resharp controls without enlarging. Again, this will improve any digital image.
3. Granularity
Image granularity (Unlimited version only) adds yet a third dimension to the matrix of options for enlarging images. The Granularity adjustment bar increases or decreases the amount of detail that Imagener Unlimited is manipulating at any one time and with 'Auto' selected shows the result in real time so you can fine tune your enlargement.
Photos Depticing Distance Add Room Depth
Photos that have content starting up close and gradually disappearing away showing distance make stunning wall murals. Photos of a sidewalk with rich foliage or of an interesting location can add deep dimension to interior spaces. We took some photos at the beach and surrounding neighborhood by concentrating on finding distance shots. If you want to add the element of increased space to a room, create wall murals showing distance.
